Britney Spears Puts On A Show At Miami Hospital

Britney Spears took advantage of her visit to Miami for her ongoing "Circus" tour and visited a local children's hospital over the weekend.

The pop star's young fans gathered around her at the Miami Children's Hospital on Saturday. According to hospital spokesperson Cristene Martinez, "The kids were so excited to meet Britney, and having her here was a great distraction for them."

The singer posed for photos with kids, barely spoke beyond "Say cheese," and was in and out in literally ten minutes.

According to the Miami Herald, pediatric radiologist Ricardo Restrepo and Lee Schrager, Director of Media for Southern Wine and Spirits America, arranged for the 27-year-old singer to visit the hospital, saying the circus theme of her tour was a natural tie in for a hospital with clowns.

And like cheering a group of 40 ill kids up wasn't enough, Britney also dropped a check for $100,000 for the hospital's Big Apple Circus Clown Care program, a service that provides medically trained clowns.

''Because of the clown theme of her tour, I assumed her visit would be a natural tie-in for a hospital with clowns,'' Director of Media for Southern Wine and Spirits America Lee Schrager told the Miami Herald. "From there it all happened quick, and the next thing we know, we got the call saying Britney Spears was coming to the hospital and donating $100,000 to the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Program.''

Britney, who was with her dad, stayed in Florida through the weekend, performed at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa on Sunday night.

The tour, which kicked off in New Orleans, is Britney's first run of arena shows in nearl five years, and is largely seen as her official comeback. So far, Britney received only rave reviews for her performances.

Controversial Britney Spears Song Faces US Radio Ban

Britney Spears forthcoming single could be banned by some US radio stations over fears that listeners might mishear the song's lyrics.

Programmers are concerned about the meaning behind the song, ‘If You Seek Amy’, which when sung by Spears sounds like “F U C K me”.

Although single-word profanities are normally dubbed out for radio, Spears' song could technically avoid censorship because it doesn't contain offensive language.

Patti Marshall, program director at Cincinnati's Q102, told MTV: "It's OK to put in on an album, have fun with it, but we're publicly owned, you know?

"We have a responsibility to the public ... you put this ... out and act like we're all fuddy-duddies, like we're trying to make moral judgements.

“It's not about us. It's about the mom in the minivan with her 8-year-old."

In the song, Spears sings the line: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to if you seek Amy”, which sounds like: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to F U C K me.”

Another programmer told the broadcaster that it would have to run the song past a legal team before it could be aired.

'If You Seek Amy' has already generated anger in Australia, where parents branded the song “offensive”.

Kevin Federline Joins the Britney Spears Circus

With all of the Britney Spears buzz going on--what with the documentary, the announcement of the tour, the birthday parties, and the general mania that’s been going on since her newfound sanity--it was only a matter of time before Kevin Federline crawled out of the woodwork to get a little attention for himself. Federline recently sat down with People to give what was advertised as, “his side of the story”--and it pretty much consisted of anecdotes about happier times. At least he deserves a bit of credit for resisting going the sensationalist route and opening up about all of the behind-closed-doors Britney Spears crazy he’s been subjected to.

When asked about his happiest time during his marriage to Spears, Federline answered, “Well, getting married. I never thought that I would get married but it wound up happening. That was a really, really, happy, exciting moment. I pretty much realized that I was giving my life to her, and I was doing it without question.”

When Federline was asked about his motivations for obtaining custody of his kids and whether or not it came down to getting money from Spears, Federline answered, “My first question to [my lawyer] was, "Am I ever going to be able to see my children?" I told him that I would spend every last dime that I had to make sure that my children are okay. That's all that mattered. I didn't know how much power Britney had. That really scared me.”

We kind of buy this. It would be easy to say that Federline was only going after Britney’s money, but even the most lackluster of fathers would likely go to bat pretty hard to get their kids away from Spears during the height of her head-shaving madness.

As for the infamous night when Britney Spears locked herself in the bathroom with son Jayden, shortly before being taken to the hospital on a gurney, Federline said, “That whole night is a blur. You want to talk about one of my lowest points of depression, that was probably one of them. I was very, very worried for her 'cause I care about her. That's the mother of my children. Just because I'm not in love with her doesn't mean that I don't love her. I'm definitely rooting for her. There's nothing more that I want than for her to be in the best health and doing what she loves to do."

Perhaps divorce and custody of his kids has been good for Kevin Federline. This is the first interview he’s ever given where he actually sounds like a fully functioning grown-up. Or is he just buttering us up so that we’ll finally accept his attempts at having a career in show business? Perhaps his ex-wife’s recent success has left Federline wanting to lay the groundwork for a comeback of his very own?

Britney x Britney Spears, who just jetted off to Europe to start her international "Circus" tour, tells Rolling Stone that she's really matured in the last year.
And not necessarily in a good way.
"I feel like an old person now," she says in Rolling Stone's next issue, out Friday. "I do! I go to bed at, like, 9:30 every night, and I don't go out or anything."
Spears turns 27 on Dec. 2, the day her album, "Circus," hits stores.

But it has been a busy year for the pop star: two trips to hospital psychiatric wards, head-shaving, car windshield-bashing, run-ins with the paparazzi and an affair with one of them, speaking in a British accent, stumbling disastrously onstage at the 2007 VMAs and then making an amazing comeback at the 2008 show.

Ever since her father, Jamie Spears, filed for legal conservatorship so that he could oversee her finances and personal affairs, her life has gotten saner and more normal. Well, as sane and normal as a famous pop star's life can be.

Will it last? Will Britney ever escape this micromanaged life she is now living?

Probably not as long as she keeps performing and bringing in the bucks. Maybe if she retires, she can live her own life.

Britney Spears : Britney’s son ‘released’ from hospital

Britney Spears’ young son Jayden James, who was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center over the weekend after he reportedly had a severe allergic reaction to a food he ate, is now out of the hospital, according to reports.

The stunning singer was spotted carrying the 2-year-old out of the medical centre and into a waiting SUV Monday at about 6 p.m., a little more than 24 hours after the two-year-old was taken to the emergency room, reports E! Online.

Spears was guarded by a police and security escort.

According to one eyewitness, the singer “looked totally exhausted.”The 26-year-old mother of two took her youngest son directly back to her family’s “Serenity” compound in nearby Kentwood.

Earlier, Spears’ family posted a statement on her official website, www.britneyspears.com, saying Jayden James was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, and “doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested.”

The trip by Spears to Louisiana, her childhood home, was the first time she had been allowed to leave California with sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden since their father Kevin Federline was given full custody in July. (ANI)

This is the first time since KFed got full custody that she's been allowed to take her lil' Cheetolets out of the state.

Simon Cowell has confirmed that Britney Spears will appear on his British talent show, “The X Factor,” the Daily Mail reported on Sunday.

The pop princess will be performing her No. 1 single “Womanizer.”

“I’m really excited about it,” Simon told the Daily Mail. “She has her act together and the new record is terrific.”
He went on to note that Britney’s public comeback – which began in September with her triumphant appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she won three Moon Men – is a welcome return after a “dark” period.

She walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30 -- did the whole song -- in and out. …I love working with her. I'm just trying to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project." The pair have been working together for around four weeks and Jerkins says that after after her failed 'comeback' at the MTV Awards last year, the singer is on a new path to success.

"I was very happy to see that she was working on the positive side and she's moving toward new things now. I think it's about to be her time again."

Court Commissioner Reva Goetz Tuesday gave permission to her father Jamie Spears, who remains control of her finances and personal affairs, to sell the singer's Studio City home, a court spokeswoman said.

A Los Angeles judge has granted Britney Spears greater access to her two sons, the lawyer for her ex-husband Kevin Federline said after a custody hearing. The lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said Spears had made progress in getting her personal life back together. Federline has had full custody of their children since January, when Spears entered a psychiatric hospital.

The pop star's personal life spiralled out of control after her break-up from Federline in 2006. A constant tail of paparazzi caught her increasingly erratic behaviour. The 26-year-old shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella, entered rehab and was twice taken by ambulance to hospital psychiatric units. She lost custody of two-and-a-half-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, 20 months, in October and lost visiting rights in January.

Mr Federline agreed to occasional supervised visits in February. Ms Spears's father has temporarily taken over control of the pop star's assets and estate. "We are so pleased at Britney's progress and we are very appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress," her parents said in a statement on Tuesday. She is due back in court in July for another progress report.

Dozens of photographers and reporters watched Ms Spears arrive as a front-seat passenger in a white Land Rover. In recent months Ms Spears has kept a fairly low profile, but she did make an appearance last month on US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The crazy pink wig hasn't been seen for weeks, late night dashes to the psychiatric ward have ceased and there are no more pictures without panties. Could no news finally be good news for Britney Spears? It has been a barren couple of months for scandal about Spears, 26, whose life became a front-page disaster in 2007 and early 2008 when she lost custody of her children, shaved her head, was seen distinctly underdressed at parties and was twice hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation.

Out of the limelight and under the guardianship of her father, Spears appears to be making so much progress that some people are even talking about a comeback. "She has almost come back from the dead," said Harvey Levin, managing editor of celebrity Web site TMZ.com which still reports on her every move. "She is happy again, she seems stable. She is seeing her kids again, she is trying to get her recording career back. The crazy conduct is not there anymore. She is a different human being from how she was three months ago," Levin told Reuters.

Apart from a minor traffic incident on April 12 -- the kind of "fender-bender" experienced by virtually every Angeleno with a car -- the only recent news about Spears has been good. She's been regularly working out at the gym and taking dance classes. She surprised critics with a sassy guest appearance in the TV sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" and has been photographed playing happily with her two sons after striking a visitation deal with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Spears to return to hit TV show

Following the success of Britney Spears' first appearance on TV sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother', the popstar is returning to the show. The singer's appearance on the hit US show last month resulted in the series' highest ratings to date.

Talking about Spears' original guest appearance the show's executive producer Carter Bays said: "I thought she was great. I was very proud of that episode." A source told People Magazine: "The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back."

Speaking to Hollywood Grind about the one-episode deal, Spears' manager Larry Rudolph said: "It was a really positive experience for her. She talked about it quite a bit the last time I saw her... She wants to do it again."

Spears submits legal papers questioning Federline expenses

Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline lied about his income and business expenses, according to legal documents filed by the pop star's lawyer. Attorney Stacy Phillips claims Federline "understated his income by at least GBP100,000" and that he exaggerated having GBP400,000 worth of business expenses, reports website TMZ.com.

The legal papers, which have been submitted as part of the former couple's ongoing custody battle, also suggest Federline earned GBP272,037.36 from his company Gooseneck Productions in 2007 - and his expenses totalled GBP420,564.33.

Phillips also accuses Federline of claiming business expenses including "extraordinarily high tips for food and beverage services" such as GBP550.38 on a GBP1,391 bill.

The Toxic singer was recently ordered to pay Federline's legal bills, which Phillips says are excessive and which Federline can afford to pay himself. Spears and Federline are currently battling over custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one. Federline has full custody of the kids.

And network chiefs at CBS are now planning to hand Spears future guest appearances, before creating her own spin-off sitcom. Sources tell the National Enquirer: "Britney did a great job playing the cute, funny receptionist - and really enjoyed herself.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the Spears-starring episode attracted around 10.6m viewers on Monday night; the show usually averages 7.8m.

Believe it or not, the recent drama in Britney Spears’ life just may have helped her family dynamic. Last night the “Gimme More” singer was out with father Jamie and mother Lynne to celebrate Lynne’s birthday.

The Spears trio landed at Café Malibu in Malibu, California for an enchanted evening that saw Jamie and Lynne acting more civil and loving than they have since their divorce. Could it be that some good could actually come out of Britney’s trainwreck?

And just days after she wrapped filming on “How I Met Your Mother,” the “Piece of Me” singer will be lending a piece of herself to the boys over at South Park. It seems she can’t get enough television exposure.

The 26-year-old star is already working hard to make sure she is fully prepared for the role. Sam Lutfi is coming out fighting – and wants Britney Spears to help overturn a restraining order against him.

Britney’s former ‘manager’ – who is banned from going within 250 yards of the troubled pop star following drugging claims – is reportedly keen for her to take the stand when he fights his case in court.

Sam contacted Britney through a third party, according to the News of the World. "I am going to call Britney to the stand so she can tell the world how I was helping her," Sam reportedly said. "I am innocent. I am Britney's friend and would never hurt her."

Sam is expected to claim that Britney had access to drugs from other visitors to her L.A. home and generally criticise her parents during the March 17 hearing.

Britney Spears threw a hissy fit when an L.A. boutique was unable to meet her bizarre demands, according to a U.S. report.

The troubled singer reportedly stunned staff at the Betsey Johnson on Melrose Ave when she showed up earlier this month with a dress that she expected the store to copy so that she could wear it the same evening.

An eyewitness tells Gatecrasher, "the staff explained that they didn't have a dressmaker on call who could do it in time." But the pop wreck didn't go away empty handed.

Continues the source: "The only thing she wanted to buy in the store was the yellow wig on a mannequin in the window. The manager eventually agreed to offer it to her for $100."

Lawyer: Britney Spears's Civil Rights Violated

The man who claims to be Britney Spears's new lawyer says that the pop star is being "deprived of her Constitutional rights" and tells PEOPLE he is seeking a "return to normalcy" when it comes to Spears's living and legal situations.

Jon Eardley, a lawyer with practices in Washington, D.C., New York and Whittier, Calif., filed a complaint in U.S. District Court on behalf of Spears on Thursday. He lashed out against the existing conservatorship as a "violation of [Spears's] civil rights," and requested the case be moved from California state court to a federal court.

"I see the case as a civil rights case," he tells PEOPLE. "These are issues of confinement. Very serious confinement. Not allowed to contact her friends. Not allowed to use the phone. Not allowed to come and go as you please. Bodyguards controlling you and so forth."

Spears's father Jamie was granted temporary conservatorship – allowing legal control of his daughter's well-being and finances – after Spears was placed under an involuntary, emergency hold at the UCLA Medical Center's psychiatric ward late last month.

Since her release on Feb. 6, she has spent much of her time at her Studio City home, and when she does go out, she is usually driven by a bodyguard. In court papers, Eardley states: "She is being confined by the conservator to the private prison of her own home."

On Friday, a Superior Court spokesperson said that the existing conservatorship and other orders "are still in effect," and that court officials are unaware of any federal court action or scheduled hearings on the matter.

Legal Maneuvering

"The saddest part [of the legal maneuvering] is it is all to [Britney's] detriment," says a legal insider. "The limited conservatorship puts in place medical care and protection of her assets that may be put at risk by the distraction and expense of having to get such an opportunistic and counterproductive action dismissed." In fact, legal experts say Eardley's legal gambit is unlikely to succeed. "It's not like the judge read papers filed by one side and made decisions without giving each side due process," says Loyola Law School Professor Stan Goldman, who is not involved in the case.

"It would be quite surprising if the federal court granted a hearing on this," he adds, "and a total shocker if it ruled against the conservatorship." In addition, the Superior Court has found that Spears "lacks the capacity" to retain counsel of her choosing. Because of that, lawyer Adam Streisand, who went to court on Feb. 4 to challenge the conservatorship on her behalf, removed himself himself from the case.

Spears Sought Out Lawyer

Eardley says he has not met the pop star, but Spears sought him out: "She reached out by phone. I have no idea how [she got my number]." The attorney says he doesn't normally represent celebrity clients. But now Eardley has hired spokesperson Michael Sands, who until recently worked with Kevin Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan.

When asked if Spears's often-erratic behavior posed a danger to herself and others, Eardley answered, "I don’t," adding that he sees far worse cases on the streets. "In downtown Los Angeles I'm surrounded by people talking to themselves and having fits on the street," says Eardley. "They are out in public. They are not being institutionalized."

The father of troubled pop star Britney Spears will retain control over her affairs for about three more weeks, a court ruled on Thursday, even as a new attorney sought to move the case to federal jurisdiction. The attorney, Jon Eardley, is linked to an associate of Spears' self-styled manager Sam Lutfi, and in the filing the attorney claims the case should be moved from state court because Spears' is being deprived of her civil liberties.

Jamie Spears was granted "temporary conservatorship" over his 26-year-old daughter's affairs two weeks ago when she was in a Los Angeles hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Los Angeles Court Commissioner Reva Goetz has now extended that conservatorship -- which gives him control over her business, finances and some personal affairs -- until March 10, a court spokesman said.

In addition, Spears' brother Bryan, 30, was been named co-trustee of his sister's trust along with Los Angeles attorney Ivan Taback. Britney Spears has been accused of stealing four white coats from designer Katja Berglund following her 26th birthday celebrations in Los Angeles at the weekend.

The pop star partied at the Scandinavian Style Mansion on Saturday night with old pal Paris Hilton - but is alleged to have picked up a few extra coats, costing a total of $28,200 (€31,800), for her and her friends as she left the venue, according to Swedish newspaper 'Aftonbladet'.

This is not the first time Spears has been caught up in theft allegations - last week, she was reported to have swiped a wig off a mannequin as she stormed out of Hollywood sex shop Hustler.

British tabloid News of the World claims Britney Spears is planning to adopt twins from China.
The newspaper's Rav Showbiz column announces: "The desperate singer has told friends she's in the final stages of talks with an adoption agency and plans to go ahead with the move very soon.

"Friends feel that Britney has decided to adopt the two six-year-old tots from China in a frantic bid to fill the void left by losing her sons to K-Fed," it continues.

Spears recently lost custody of her children - two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James- to her ex-husband following a string of alcohol and drug-fuelled exploits and a stint in rehab.

The paper offers no evidence in support of the dramatic claim.

But it doesn't stop there, adding that the singer has put a down payment on her own funeral.

Rav quotes a source as saying: "It doesn't seem that Britney has thought this through completely. Adoption and a funeral? The two don't exactly go hand-in-hand."

Mumbai, Nov 21 - No celebrity is more poised to make a dramatic comeback than troubled pop superstar Britney Spears. Things have got so bad for the singer lately, both professionally and personally, that there is only one way to go from here - up.

As Spears attempts a comeback with her just released album 'Blackout', all eyes are on her to see how she redeems herself. Britney's slide down to shame has been long and dramatic and sometimes hilarious. She shaved her head, abused drugs, divorced Kevin Federline and lost custody of her children to him, displayed her behind not wearing underwear, and was responsible for one of the worst and most embarrassing performances by a superstar when she sang at the MTV Video Music Awards recently.

Even as Spears embarks on what will prove to be a long arduous road to a comeback, she can seek inspiration in the many others who have been where she was and have got out through sheer will and mostly luck.

Artistes like Santana, Aerosmith, Loretta Lynn and most famously Mariah Carey have crawled out of the ash heap of ruined careers to wow us all.

Santana's fall into obscurity was no fault of his own. His style of music and virtuoso guitar simply went out of style and could not keep fans' interest alive. But in 1999, in what will have to be one of the greatest comebacks of all time, he released 'Supernatural'. Though it was mainly collaborations with stars of that day, it proved to be phenomenally successful, selling more than 15 million copies.

The late Grateful Dead legend Jerry Garcia once described the rock band Aerosmith as 'the druggiest bunch of guys I have ever seen'. The band hit the dumps so bad they spent five years apart from each other, but with the help of rehabilitation managed to come back in the 1980s. They still manage to sell a decent number of albums and their crowd pull at concerts is commendable.

Sometimes all it takes to get you motivated enough to drag yourself to the studio to record again is the flattering praise of a young fan who just happens to be one of the biggest rock stars of his day. That's what happened to country music legend Loretta Lynn when White Stripes lead singer Jack White collaborated with her on the award-winning album 'Van Lear Rose' released in 2004.

Lynn was most famous in the 1980s when actress Sissy Spacek won an Academy Award for portraying her in the movie 'Coal Miner's Daughter'. After that she drifted out of the scene, even resigning herself to the fact that her career was over. But Jack White, a more than enthusiastic fan, met her and out of that was born the idea to do an album. White arranged, produced, and lent his voice too.

But the one comeback Spears can take the most inspiration from is Mariah Carey's. Carey like Spears, though nowhere as shameful, ridiculed herself before she crashed. In the summer of 2001, Carey reached a low point when she went on MTV and distributed popsicles before performing a striptease.

She told the host of the show TRL, 'I just want one day off when I can go swimming and eat ice cream and look at rainbows.' A few days later she was hospitalised and the official explanation was 'extreme exhaustion'.

A few years later she came out with the hugely successful album 'The Emancipation of Mimi', which won critical raves and re-established her to her pre-breakdown level of fame.

Some have watched with amused glee as Spears finds innovative ways to embarrass herself almost every other day. But there are more who sincerely hope that she will pull herself by the bootstraps and redeem herself. Everyone loves an underdog. Here's hoping.

Blackout Album Sales Soaring

Britney Spears looks to have a clear path to top The Billboard 200. First-day sales from the eight chains that report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building Charts put Spears’ Jive/Zomba release “Blackout” at 124,000 on the report released today (Oct. 31).

That is more than double the number of units posted by Carrie Underwood’s chart-topping “Carnival Ride,” which rounded up 49,000 sales from the start of the tracking week through close of business yesterday. That album is currently in the runner-up position. Zomba estimates “Blackout” will open in the range of 330,000-350,000, a ballpark that falls in line with her Building Chart total.

Since the Building Charts’ inception, six of the seven weeks’ Wednesday leaders were also No. 1 on The Billboard 200 when final charts were compiled with data from all reporting sellers. Jimmy Eat World’s “Chase This Light” was the only Wednesday leader that did not hold its pole position. The Building Charts also seem to confirm that the nation’s biggest seller, Wal-Mart, will not report sales on its U.S. exclusive, the Eagles’ “Long Road Out of Eden,” as that much-anticipated album is missing from the Wednesday list. Wal-Mart usually blocks its proprietary titles from appearing on Top Comprehensive Albums, as was the case with its Garth Brooks exclusives.

Anderson Merchandisers and Handleman Company, the racks that stock music at Wal-Mart, are among the eight accounts who provide data to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building Charts.
